Reflect a source

strata reflect crm reads a source's catalog, never a row: its tables and views, their columns with types, defaults and comments, the primary and foreign keys, the indexes, and the database's own row estimates. That is the map your AI client reads before it asks for rows.

  • The map is kept on this machine. Once paired, it is sent to your workspace, where the console reads it. A comment holding something shaped like a password is masked before it is kept or sent.
  • A large database is read 200 tables at a time, and the agent says how far it has got.
  • Run it again after a migration. It compares each table with the last reflection and says what was added, changed or removed, or "no change".
  • Your AI client can reflect a source itself with db_reflect.

The map tools answer from it without touching the database: db_sources, db_tables, db_describe_table (a table's columns, keys, comments and tags, what it references, what references it, and the joins people applied to other sources), map_get and map_search (a word, a column's name or a tag, across every source). See The command line for each tool's flags.
